basket strats for glowflies/grillers are good yall. they're not just for overfishing. they actually make it easier to win in the first place, especially when the quota is really high.
the only time wall hanging is acceptable as your entire strat is on Sockeye Station. Even then, you should have at least half your team stationed by the basket, both for killing salmon reasons and carting egg reasons. You have to be constantly aware you're always at 75% of shooting power at all times, and if the glowflies target you while on The Ring, wait until they've run up the path onto the ring, then move to the wall. Even then, though, you need to know how to use the Real Purpose of wall hanging: pulling the teeming mass away from your team/eggs for recovery and egg depositing. (in Sockeye's case, this means moving over to wall hang on the back side of the spiral, just around the right side of the wall people always hang on under the grate)
The most common reason basket strats fail is someone breaking formation right as the glowflies swap to them. Flies last 15 seconds unless the target dies (in which case the flies will change target... but, afaict, they'll also return to their original target if they're revived before their 15 seconds ends!); literally count it if you have to (for whatever timecursed reason, I don't have to because I have an incredible sense for time based events in video games and cooking. Any other time it goes out the window and is fake), and don't go for eggs if the time is nearly up.
The second most common reason basket strats fail is poor positioning. DO NOT BODY BLOCK SHOOTY WEAPONS. You ever have a time where you're like, "wow I see everyone is shooting but everything is dying so slow!"? That's bodyblocking, baybee. Everyone needs to be horizontally spread out, unless they have a blaster, bucket, or brush, in which case they can sit behind everyone and shoot through/over. Chum have 50 HP in Rush waves, which is a critical damage breakpoint to learn (stinger pots also share it)--know when you weapon does 50 damage and take advantage of that: all rollers deal 50 or more damage when rolling1, and boozler, snipewriter, and goober do it on tap shots. Every brella canopy does at least that much as well2. If you have something that shoots a lane of damage (i.e. charged piercing sniper shots, tenta's canopy3, position yourself to where you can take out an entire line of enemies and be hyperaware of your 6 and the glowfly timer (side note: if you see anyone doing the Right Thing and positioning to take advantage of a straightaway, it is now your job to cover their 6)
Also, "waste" specials on this wave if you have jet, booyah, or wave. Pop 'em as soon as you lose one person, because that's usually when formation starts to break and you lose multiple people. Hang on to your booyah as long as possible to allow for life preservers to flip. Reef can be used in a pinch, but detonate early and be extremely aware of the fact you're easy pickings if you don't explode everything. Wail rarely works well, but if you treat it like a sniper charge shot, it works for half your beam time at least?
I talk about the Greatest Knowledge Point For Rollers In Glowflies in my deep dive on dynamo, but I'll emphasize it again here: If your roller is on the ground but you are not moving forward, your passive ink regen immediately kicks in. If there is not a chum in your face, take your thumb off left stick. If there is a chum, tilt it just barely forward
side note: brella is a melee weapon; I should do a #SR weapon deep dive on the class just for this thought
yes, vanilla brella also shoots off, but since it opens faster, you're actually better off shooting, holding the button until just before it would launch, and then closing to shoot again. You'll have a more constant active hitbox and don't have to worry about straightaways as much. Oh, oops, this is now text supporting footnote 2's thesis
